amazing in every way!! We had a takeaway a few times from here ordering the chicken katsu curry, and wanted to come in to try it and this was our second time having a dine in. Firstly their katsu curry is probably one of the best foods I have ever had, tried the chicken and pork options and they are equally delicious. This time we went we decided to try some different things, I had the beef ramen and it was so comforting, one of the best ramen I’ve tried. The hot sake was new to us but we had a very nice surprise as it was better than expected. The gentleman who served us was extremely kind and attentive, intend to visit more often!!

Very authentic and delicious tasting Japanese food. Been to fair few Asian restaurants in the area and this one stands out. Decor was perhaps a bit dated and garish, but the food made up for it by far. It was noticeably cheaply priced too, with most dishes being in the area of 8 to 9 which is very good value for money!! Highly recommend for anyone.

Popped in here whilst staying in the hotel almost next door on a work trip. Initially chosen for convenience , however I'm glad I did! Tuna sashimi was melt in the mouth and the teriyaki salmon ramen was delicious. Had a lovely chat with the chef (who was also waiting on a quiet Monday evening) who was attentive and spoke passionately about his food.

Pleased with the service! We told the chef that we have a train to catch and he reassured us that we won’t miss it! And truly we didn’t, he served the food so quickly & reminded us afterwards bout time remaining. I ordered katsu curry, along with gyoza. My friends also had other foods that I wasn’t able to take photo. Overall, service and food are excellent!

The new ichiban is a fantastic restaurant with a very charming atmosphere. There are some very great features not seen in other restaurants in the area, including call bells for a wait staff to reduce waiting times for service. I had the chicken katsu curry, and the presentation was very nice. The food itself was great, with one highlight being the salad that accompanies the curry, which has a fantastic dressing. The curry was wholesome and warming, and the chicken was cooked perfectly. Me and my partner will be sure to visit very often after dining inside, making use of our new loyalty cards.

A nice Japanese restaurant owned by a Chinese. Good service and reasonably priced. 10% off discount for students.

Consistently reliable good food. I always come here with family and never leave without ordering my favourite red dragon roll! The crispy duck donburi is also a must try Quick and friendly service too

Arrived around 7:30pm on a Thursday. Came in with my work colleague, was only the 2 of us in the restaurant. I had the unagi bento box and a side of salmon sushi rolls. Food was good, made better with the sake. I ordered the warm sake and my colleague the cold. Very generous amount of sake, took us 2hrs of chatting and drinking to finish our drinks
